An artist’s studio is a surprising insertion into a mundane industrial facade in downtown Tempe. The architect wished to express the spirit of the desert surroundings in a sustainable form.One cactus was featured in a cast concrete planter, along with a native stone ‘rug’ fashioned by the artist, and rugged raw steel and concrete surfaces intended to remind one of the desert in the city.
